Introduction to management workshop held for sales managers

LAHORE, MAY 2019: In a bid to build the managerial capacity of our newly promoted District Sales Managers (DSMs,) CCL’s Training function recently held a 4-day training workshop on Introduction to Management – I in Lahore. Over 32 District Sales Managers attended the workshop, which was facilitated by Rana Imtiaz, Training Manager. The workshop offered a valuable opportunity to CCL’s managers to explore their potential through learning and execution of various managerial skills and competencies.

In his opening address, Dr. Shahzad Khan, Chief Operating Officer, emphasized the value of learning. “Learning is directly proportional to your efforts to learn. Do ask, if you don’t ask or don’t execute your learning, the performance gap will persist,” he said. “Spend your time with your team, spend your time apart from selling time with your doctors to learn from them. Know about your patients, talk to them to know what they think to passionately serve the community,” he added.

Muhammad Akram, Commercial Director drew the attention of the participants to team building and retention. “In a supervisory role, it is the sole responsibility of the DSM to interact with his team fellows in a professional fashion. Do all the good things with your subordinates, which you expect from your supervisor and focus on the development of your sales promotion officers and help them face the market challenges effectively,” he added.

Heads of business, General Manager and Business Unit managers were invited to deliver various topics to convert theory into practice and to align the content of the workshop with day-to-day tasks of DSMs.

Practical examples, role plays, case studies and group discussions and presentations added value to the session and built a better level of understanding. Expertise and diversified experiences of the facilitators provided practical solutions of the day-to-day challenges of first line managers.

While concluding the session, Shoaib Ahmed, CHRO advised the participants to continue the process of learning; he also sensitized the audience about team retention for better productivity.
